Fireworks Activities

Using the Lasso Tool

Use the lasso tool to select specific items on an image.

Select Images
We will create this image from these two pictures, you may use your own picture instead of the flower if you have it available.

1. Start Fireworks and create a new document with a canvas size of 500 by 500.

2. Copy these pictures pictures and paste them onto the Fireworks canvas. If you don't have the ability to right click, drag the image go to the desktop. In Fireworks, go to the File menu item and down to Import. Locat the file and import it into Fireworks.

3. Click on the flower picture to select the image, then select the lasso tool . With the lasso tool, click, hold down the mouse button and drag around the part of the image you want to copy.

OR, you may use the magic wand tool, hit the Ctrl, Shift and i buttons to select the flower also.

4. With the selection made, go to the Edit menu item and down to Copy.

5. Click on the white X to exit the bitmap mode, then go to the Edit menu item and select Paste.
