Adina's Co2 Car

Hello, my name is Adina and I go to Naches Valley Middle School, which is located in Naches, Washington. Our technology class has been making Co2 cars. These are little wooden cars that we put a Co2 cartridge in that back and we race them. They are very fun to build. First we have to go through a long designing process to make sure we get our cars just right. Then our teacher helps us with cutting them out. The original length of the wood that we have to work with is about 10 or 11 inches. We can't have them any shorter than 6 inches because if they are shorter than that then they won't steer straight when we race them.

 (not really)

When I was designing my car there were a lot of things that I had to think about. Like the lighter I made my car the better chances I had of winning because the co2 could push it farther, faster. I built an air foil on the back of my car so that it would go through the wind better. At the front end it is tapered so that it will cut the wind and go faster. One thing that people do to their cars is to put powdered graphite on the wheels so they will ride smoother. My car didn't win but it did come it about seventh place, it beat one other car. When we race we do double elimination, which means that everybody has at least two races.

Thank you for coming to my web page. I hope you learned something.
