Reading:  Our story this week is Gloria and Officer Buckle by Peggy Rathmann.  The story focuses on the following skills; short "a" and short "e", decoding long words, and simple sentences.

Vocabulary this week:  department, obeys, commands, audience, expression, accident, and noticed.

Math:  Our first unit in math focuses on place value and number sense.  The students will be identifying odd and even numbers and looking for patterns on a hundred chart.  In addition, they will be determining greater than and less than values, as well as working with standard, written, and expanded form.

Field Trip: Third grade will be going on their annual field trip to the Central Washington Fair on Tuesday, October 2^nd.  We usually depart around 10:00 and return at 2:15.  If you are interested in going with us, please sign and return the following form.

Book Order:  I've attached our first book order.  If you wish to order a book for your child, please return the completed order form with a check made out to the book order company.  I will be sending this order in next Friday.  Thank you.
