Summer Ideas

Are you having a great summer?  I sure am!  I'm enjoying sleeping in, reading, traveling, spending time with my husband Richard, playing with my sons Bryce and Jace, as well as our dog Scout, and our two cats Katie and Callie.  I'm sure you've been swimming and playing all day!   There is so much we can do during the wonderful days of summer. One great thing to do during the summer, is to stay fresh and practice all those wonderful skills you learned during the last school year.   Keep reading for ideas on how you can stay fresh and ready for school in the fall.

BE BUSY READING!

Read, Read, Read!  Read to your mom, read to your dad, read to your brother, read to your sister.  Read to a pet, read to a stuffed animal.  Read on a trip, read on the beach, read under a tree.  Read! Read! Read!

Stay Fresh!

Write in a summer journal.
Write a letter to a friend or to your teacher.  (I'd love to hear from you!)  Write down mom's shopping list.  Write a story.  Go to a movie and then write a 'review' of it.

Keep on Shining!
Going on a trip?  When I was little, I didn't like to sit in the car for a long time.  One of my favorite things to do to pass time was to play car games.  Did you know car games is yet another way to practice your skills?  On those long road trips, play word or number games with someone to keep your mind challenged.  One fun one is to say a name, then your partner says a name that begins with the last letter of the name just said.  Read the signs and directions for mom or dad as they're driving!
Practice your multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division. Play guess the number.  Think of a number, then give greater/less than so that someone can guess it.

Have Fun!  Enjoy the summer and start counting the days until school starts again.
